North East of Scotland boy, Paul Scott has done well for himself. Working in the oil industry, and globe-trotting around the world, he has thrown himself into his music, producing sublimely laid-back guitar-based tunes.

Paul began playing guitar around 8 years ago, and not long after that began writing with Scott Sutherland and John ‘The Doc’ Docherty. After relocating to Spain, Paul found it difficult to be part of this group, as ‘The Doc’ is located in Skye and ‘Scotty’ (Sutherland) lives in Scotland, so time together was almost impossible to find.

‘After I wrote and recorded my first acoustic album ‘The Dice Man’, I decided to go a step further and take advantage of all my musically talented friends, in order to include electric guitars, string sections and piano. This became my second album and it is called Songs Of The Sun. I started writing it in Colombia whilst doing my adventurer bit and continued my way through various different countries.‘

Working around the world both on and offshore, Paul’s guitar has become his ‘best friend’ over the years, and provides him with the escape from ‘monotony on a barge’. ‘During my trip to Africa, ’he says, ’ it was the big, red sun that inspired me to write and compose the music to African Sunsets, the sun there seems so much bigger!!!

Most of the songs were written in the south of Spain but a large part of the album was recorded in Scotland (ARC Studios, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire)), where, apart from the continued collaboration and support of his friends, Paul was ‘honoured ‘, with the assistance of Gavin Sutherland who played Piano, Percussion and bass in a number of the songs.

Another two tracks were recorded in Sicily where Paul, ‘spent a nice summer and met these two really good guys, Ciccio Blunda (the session musician who played lead guitar in "Songs of the Sun" and "What´s a Wish) and Jhonny (the owner of ‘Studio Wanted Records’), in Trapani (Spain) where we recorded these two amazing tracks.’.

All mixing and editing was done in ARC Studios in Mintlaw by James Hunter.

Paul is currently working on his third album and will have ‘some live surprises to follow’.

A personal message from Paul – ‘I really hope you all enjoy the album and I´m sure you can relate to some of the strange and comical situations in this life that I write about. Many thanks to all my friends and family and the people who helped me make this album possible, you know who you are….’.
